For over 20 years, Danielle Guglielmino has been committed to providing the best holistic care through the use of massage, bodywork, and macrobiotic cooking and counseling. I invite you to come experience what these therapies can do for you.
Therapeutic massage is a style that can incorporate several modalities (defined below) as needed, depending on your health concerns: Swedish, Deep Tissue, Shiatsu, Integrated Positional Therapy (IPT), Myofascial Release, Gua Sha, and Cupping.
Shiatsu is a style of acupressure bodywork done on a futon mat on the floor. Shiatsu activates the ki energy circulating in the body. The focus is to open and allow ease in movement in the body, clearing blockages or stagnation. This work includes stretching, Acupressure, Myofascial release, Shin Tai, and Hara massage. Shiatsu helps with stress, fatigue, anxiety, tension, and pain.
Integrative Macrobiotic Advising is for those interested in the macrobiotic approach to health and wellness. You can discuss your health concerns in a confidential and professional setting. The session includes a body scan using the eastern philosophy of face and body diagnosis, as well as light shiatsu examining the hara (center/abdomen) and meridian channels. Danielle will use her unique combination of experience in bodywork and macrobiotics, as well as science-based research, to provide recommendations for a more balanced diet and lifestyle. You will receive lifestyle and dietary recommendations, recipes, and remedies. This includes two 20-minute phone calls or emails to address any questions and review progress.
A massage used to relax and relieve stress. Pressure is light to medium and includes gentle stretches, kneading, and tapping (tapotement).
A style of massage focusing on tension in the muscle using deeper pressure, breaking up knots, fascial adhesions, or scar tissue. These techniques help improve circulation and muscle function, and they increase range of motion.
A dynamic form of bodywork combining acupressure techniques and meridian channels of traditional shiatsu. Shin Tai is a more current use of shiatsu focusing on energy memories that accumulate in the body.
A technique used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that gently scrapes the skin with a smooth edge tool. This improves circulation and can break up tension within fascia and muscle tissue, as well as energy (chi or ki) stagnation.
An ancient healing method that started, in various forms, as folk medicine in Asia, Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Latin America. It increases blood flow and breaks up knots and tension.
A massage and stretching technique that uses gentle, minimal pressure and slow movement to open torsions in the myofascial tissue. Fascia is a thin connective tissue that surrounds most structures within the body, including muscles.
Uses osteopathic techniques of Muscle Energy Technique (MET) and Strain-Counterstrain (SCS) to realign the body’s structure and improve muscular-skeletal function. MET is an assisted form of stretching using active muscle contractions. It’s a very effective tool that lengthens tight and constricted muscles and restores range of motion. SCS is a more passive technique in which the affected area is slacked or shortened and held for 60–120 seconds, allowing the muscle fibers to release and relieve pain and tension.
“Traditional acupressure theory says that disease arises from rebellion against the natural way—our inner nature. The alternative is paying attention to our feelings and inner self and letting it guide us so that we can live more fully and actualize our whole potential.”
